SEQUENCE: THE LIGHT BEYOND

INT. HOUSE HALLWAY – NIGHT

A wide, still frame shot from the corridor.

Doors open.

Dim light spills from an open bedroom door at the end of the hallway.

WILLIAM walks in, slow and quiet, holding a glass of water.

Each step feels heavier than the last.

His silhouette moves like a shadow from another world.

He enters.

INT. BEDROOM – CONTINUOUS

The room is softly lit by one low lamp.

LILY lies propped up in bed, a typewriter balanced on her lap.

Her face is pale. Fragile. But peaceful.

She’s typing — slowly, deliberately.

WILLIAM steps in and stops, watching her.

He doesn’t say anything yet. Just watches.

Then he walks to the nightstand and sets the glass down gently.

He sits at the edge of the bed.

LILY finishes typing the last word.

She exhales.

A long, soft breath — like something just let go inside her.

She pulls the final page from the typewriter.

Looks at him.

Her smile is small… but it’s the most alive she’s ever looked.

LILY
(softly, peaceful)
I remember now.
(beat — a small exhale)
It waited for me.
Until I could really feel it.

WILLIAM
(soft smile,
but eyes already filling)
Let me take that from you.

He lifts the typewriter gently off her legs and sets it on the floor.

She stacks the pages together — slow, careful.

As if every one of them matters.

She places the final page on top.

Closes the file.

She hands it to him.

LILY
(softly)
Read it… after.

She smiles, but her hand lingers a moment too long on the pages.

Like she’s saying goodbye to the story too.

CLOSE-UP – WILLIAM

He takes them. His hands are shaking. The moment hits him.

His breath shortens.

His chest tightens.

He knows.

His eyes begin to glisten.

LILY
(taking his hand now,
gently)
Come lay down with me?

She’s still smiling.

Peaceful.

She already knows.

WILLIAM nods slowly, biting back the sob.

His throat closes.

He tries to steady himself.

He crosses around the bed, crawls onto the left side.

They face each other.

TOP SHOT – ABOVE THE BED

Their bodies mirror each other.

So close.

Foreheads are almost touching.

Their hands slide into each other’s arms.

WILLIAM brushes the hair gently from her face.

Time slows.

Everything stills.

LILY
(whispers,
full of something deeper than sadness —
knowing)

That’s the key.
To feel it all…
everything.
It was so easy, once I let go.
(small breath)
I was too afraid before.
This could have all been different.

WILLIAM
(voice cracking)
Lily...

LILY
Promise me...
you’ll keep going like that.
Living.

WILLIAM
(tears spilling)
I don’t know if I can without you.

LILY
You can.
(smiling)
You’ll see.
This is just the beginning.

He searches her eyes — trying to memorize what’s already eternal.

He knows. He’ll never forget.

WILLIAM
(soft, shattered)
I love you so much.

LILY
(whispers)
I love you.
(beat)
I’ll see you later.

She says it like a promise that was made long before this moment.

She shifts forward and gently buries herself into his chest.

His arms wrap around her instantly.

Her breathing slows.

Slower.

And slower.

Her hand rests on his arm —

—and then slides down,

falling gently.

Gone still.

WILLIAM doesn’t move.

He holds her tighter.

His lips press to her forehead.

His body begins to shake.

He cries into her hair.

Not loudly—

At first.

TOP SHOT – SLOW ZOOM OUT

They lie in a tight embrace.

His back rising and falling.

His sobs break the silence now.

The lamp flickers gently beside them.

—and for a moment, her ring catches the light.

A quiet glint. Like a last breath. Then—

The world has gone still.

And everything is quieter.

FADE TO BLACK.

SFX:

A clock ticks.

TIK.
